Credit Reporting
Agencies
Important Information:
1. Although many of these sites offer an expedited service allowing you to immediately view
your credit online (for a fee) and also offer to provide information reported by the other Credit
Reporting Agencies (CRA’s), WFML does not guarantee the accuracy of reports ordered online.
Please make sure you read all of the fine print before placing an order and also make sure you
are not accepting the terms of a monthly charge to continue to give you online access to your
credit report (unless that is what you really want).
2. A copy of your credit report is normally
free of charge if you have been turned down for a loan based on derogatory credit information
however the laws pertaining to free credit reports may differ from state to state. To obtain
this free report, your request must be in writing. If you have been recently turned down for
credit of any kind, by law you should receive a letter stating the reasons why you were turned
down and which credit reporting agency was used to make this determination.
3. Residents of certain states are entitled
to a free copy of their credit report once per year. To receive this credit report, you must
state your request in writing asking for your free annual report. Do not state that you are
requesting a free report because you have been turned down for credit or this could reflect
negatively on your credit report and lower your credit score. You must provide your social security
number and in some cases you will be asked to send verification of your name and social security
number so submitting a copy of your social security card and your drivers license (with an address
that matches your mailing address) may expedite your claim.
4. This information should not be misconstrued
as legal advice and is subject to change without notice.
